Large Structure
The large structure of the organization is divided into two categories; Staff, and the volunteer corps. Active staff have four general departments with a fifth intermediary department for larger logistically taxing operations. These Departments are, Admin, Field, Security, and Engineering. With the fifth; the Office of Intermediary Affairs being the joint operations hub.
The 210th San Antonio detachment is considered the headquarters division, with the number "210" being the telephone area code of the location of the detachment, this is true for all detachments. |
Small StructureThe unit of the organization's Staff Corps is based around a paramilitary style system. We have Officers, non-commissioned officers, and Standard personnel; This system is put in place to create a very direct and visible chain of command. Standard personnel are ranked based on experience in that members field or specialty. There are 16 Different specialties or "rates" within the APS, these encompass everything from administrative, to security, to engineering roles. Junior staff will seldomly have a specialty unless they have extensive pre-existing experience and would likely be slated for a junior leadership role. members will be given more opportunity to lead as they progress through the ranks. until they may be eligible for advancement to Chief. Chiefs are selected for being subject matter experts in their specialty, and for being exceptional leaders. They must also know the operations and procedures for their department as a whole not just their rate. they carry the same authority to junior officers. Officers are ranked largely by the amount of personnel they lead and must know the basics of the rates under their command. this is generally true unless the detachment is large enough to have division specialized officers.
